Every living thing relies on water for its existence

The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has stated that 480,000 cases of learning disorders in children each year are attributed to lead from in drinking water.

Municipal treatment services are not always able to remove dangerous bacteria from tap.

The use of a filter is the only way to make sure that tap water is not contaminated. A solid block carbon filter can selectively remove dangerous contaminants while keeping healthy mineral deposits that balance the Ph. They can reduce the risk of gastrointestinal disease by more than 33 percent. These filters remove lead immediately prior to consumption, thus preventing this harmful substance from entering the body.

Bottled water, because it is defined as a 'food' under federal regulations, is under the authority of the Food and Drug Administration while the Environmental Protection Agency regulates tap water. Thus, bottled water may actually be less clean and safe than tap. The EPA mandates that local treatment plants provide city residents with a detailed account of tap water's source and the results of any testing, including contaminant level violations. Bottled companies are under no such directives. Municipal systems must test for harmful microbiological content several times a day, bottled companies are required to test for these microbes only once a week.

Bottled water, due to several factors, is clearly not a healthier or purer alternative to tap. Also, bottled is outrageously expensive when compared to the cost per gallon of tap. It is hard to argue the fact that waste management has become a large problem in the world, with landfills growing to enormous sizes and recycling rates remaining dismally low. The number of plastic bottles produced by the bottled industry and discarded by consumers has only compounded this problem. According to a 2001 report of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), roughly 1.5 million tons of plastic are expended in the bottling of 89 billion liters of water each year.

Filtered water is the most economical and the healthiest choice. Filters greatly reduce the risk of rectal cancer, colon cancer, and bladder cancer by removing chlorine and chlorine byproducts from tap. The best alternative for both bottled and tap water is to process it through the use of filters. You can get the healthy benefits of filtered water from a countertop water filters system. These systems are highly effective and easy to install. They have become very popular in many homes because there is little involved in the installation. They can be moved if moving from one location to another. They are fairly compact. These units can be smaller than some small appliances.

The purchase of one of these filters will result in a source of clean, healthy water that costs much less than bottled. These filters cost a fraction of what bottled water costs. The average cost of bottled can be $10 a gallon. The cost of filtered water cost 9 cents per gallon. This can add up to a great savings to the average household. Not only are filters economical, they are also environmental friendly. There is no better choice for purity and economy than filtered water.
