how to repurpose towel rail into toilet roll holder

by:KingKonree     2020-10-24
Re-use the towel track on the toilet rack. This DIY project details the simple task of redesign
Put the material on the track of the old wooden towel and the spindle of the old plastic toilet roll rack into the new toilet roll rack with zero budget.
Re-use the old toilet rack rotation to turn one thing into another (repurposing)
By recycling materials that are originally redundant, it is a good way to inject new life into old items, and it is also a good way to save money by recycling garbage.
This DIY project is a good example, and it can be reused when we want to replace the old toilet character Holder as part of a modern shower room.
When renovating our shower room, when replaced with a modern heated towel rack, the old towel rack and radiator underneath become redundant.
Kicking our old shower room screaming into the 21 st century (
As part of these renovations)
To tear off our old plastic. and dated)
Toilet rack, hoping to replace it with something more modern and intelligent.
As a result, the old towel track was re-applied to the concept of the toilet roll rack.

Arrange your parts on the workbench and remove them, that is, the spindle on the old towel rail and the old toilet roll holder.
The special part needed to make the toilet roll rack on the old towel track is the back panel, two longest side stands and one of the Center votes. 2.
Measure and mark the length of the side bracket ready to cut the size.
The radius of the toilet roll is about 2 inch, so you will want to measure 2 considering the gap of half an inch.
From the center of the spindle will return to the bottom 5 inch of the side bracket.
In this DIY project, there are just over 3 side brackets.
From the bottom of the side bracket to the middle 5 inch of the circular groove that previously held the towel track vote.
So in order to get the required length I just need to shorten the side brackets by 1 inch. 3.
Use the hand saw to carefully cut the side bracket to the desired length to ensure that the cut is true and square.
Once cut, place them upright on a flat surface, check with a square to see if they are completely vertical, and equally important, your eyesg.
Step back and look at them from all angles to see if they really look very straight.
If you are a little uncomfortable, you should be able to fix the base with some sandpaper to make them fully upright. 4.
The existing holes on the two side brackets, previously fixed the rod on the towel track, were too large for the toilet rack spindle and therefore needed to be filled.
The diameter of these holes is slightly higher than the thickness of the towel Rod they use to place. Therefore off-
Cutting from the bar is ideal for plugging these holes.
This is easy to achieve by putting one end of the rod into one of the holes, marking around the rod with a pencil, and cutting at that point to create a plug that fills the hole. 5.
Put a large piece of wood glue at the bottom of each hole, press the cork into the hole, with the help of G-clamp.
Release it from G-clamp;
Wipe away the excess glue and place it for the night. 6.
Once the glue is set, you need to drill a new hole, slightly larger than the end head on the main shaft of the toilet roll.
The tape measure gives a rough measurement, which may be good enough, but for more accuracy, I found the measuring plate in my drill bit and drill tool box, which is very useful.
It is very convenient to quickly and accurately determine the dimensions of screws, bolts and other circular objects of similar sizes to determine the correct size drill needed for the work.
In this case, the end pin size on the main shaft of the toilet rack is 8.
5mm so I need a 9mm drill. 7.
After determining the correct size, place a side bracket firmly on the bench pair and carefully drill a hole in the center of the cork to the end claw depth on the main shaft of the toilet rack.
The second side bracket repeats the process. 8. In order to re-
Assemble the side bracket, you need to drill holes on the side bracket to prevent the wood from splitting;
To do this, you need to know where to drill holes.
Place the screw with a sharp point into the original screw hole of the back plate so that the tip of the screw sticks out from the front.
Gently press the side bracket in the correct position on the back plate so that the tip of the screw leaves a dent;
This will mark the position where you drill the pilot hole.
Repeat the process with the second side bracket and the bottom plate. 9.
Have drilled your first pilot hole glue and screw the side bracket onto the base plate but not too tight;
Like a screw, the side stand can rotate on the bottom plate, and you\'ll want to straighten and level these completely so you can drill a second pilot hole on each side stand.
With a screw, once the glue is set, the glue should be firmly fixed.
However, as the pressure from replacing the old toilet roll with the new toilet roll with the spindle increases, you will want to make sure that your new toilet roll holder is durable;
The second screw ensures this.
Therefore, once bonded and tightened with one screw and straightened, measured and marked on the back of each back plate in order to drill the second pilot hole.
Place one of the side brackets into the wood pair, drill the second guide hole, add the second screw and tighten the first screw completely.
Repeat this process for the other side bracket and bottom plate. 10.
Your custom toilet roll rack is now complete and ready to be installed in the bathroom next to your toilet.
However, trying to arrange the two side brackets on the bathroom wall, keep the level and level, and keep the correct distance, then trying to mark it through the screw holes on the bathroom wall, to indicate where to drill holes for your fixing screws.
Therefore, to ensure a perfect fit, make a template to mark the right position for drilling holes in the bathroom wall.
The advantage of using the template is that you only need to get the highest level on the spiritual level, because it is not very thick, so it is easy to get a thin pointed marker pen through the pre-
Drill holes in the wall of the bathroom to mark where to drill.
For the template, I used the cut-out of the laminate floor as it guarantees to be straight, square, thin enough to easily get a pencil or thin tip mark through the template hole, used to mark for drilling.
Using a thin block of wood, the block is arranged in a straight and square line on one of the side supports in the upper right corner, and (
Use small screws)
Screw it in place.
Use the toilet roll rack spindle to position the second side bracket at the correct distance, and the top edge level is consistent with the top of the waste wood and twist it in place.
Undo all screws, remove the side bracket and drill the appropriate size holes in the position where the screws are locatedg. 3mm.
Your template is now available. 11.
Decide where you want to fix the new toilet rack in the bathroom, place the template in that position and level the top with a mental height.
When saving the template in that location (
Make sure it doesn\'t slip)
Mark your four holes with the tip felt tip or pencil to mark the spot of the drill.
If drilling is done on the tile, tap the spot gently with a sharp nail and hammer to break the glaze at that point, so that the bit has something to bite;
Reduce the risk of drill slip.
But don\'t hit the nail too hard, otherwise the whole tile will most likely crack.
Use the smallest bit you have, drill the pilot hole only on the bit setting;
Not the hammer drill setting;
Due to the hammer action of the drill bit, it is likely that the tile will be damaged.
Then change the drill bit to the correct size of the wall plug and re-
Drill through the tiles.
Once you enter the hammer drill setting through the tile switch, continue to drill to the back wall.
Drill to the depth of the wall plug length plus the thickness of the tile, when you tighten the screw, inserting the wall plug into the tile may cause the tile to crack.
To prevent this risk, once your hole is drilled out, you will want to put the wall plug behind the tile to achieve this, using a bit slightly larger than the width of the top of the wall plug, just go through the tile itself, not the wall at the back.
You should then be able to push the plug on the wall to the wall behind the tile;
By screwing the screw to the top of the wall plug, making it start to bite tight, and then tapping gently with a hammer, it is easy to achieve.
Once the plug on the wall is simple to install, a new custom toilet roll rack can be reinstalled
Designed from your old towel track, placed on the bathroom wall and loaded with ready toilet paper.
If your old towel track has two tracks for fixing towels then a simple solution for homemade wood filling can work quicklyas mine did)
You will leave the fixed screw hole where the second side bracket used to be.
If you don\'t have any proprietary wood filling to provide a few good alternatives to commercial wood filling, it\'s to either use body filling (
Once set and polished)
As good as Wood filling, or make your own filling with the same amount of wood glue and sawdust.
For this DIY project, I mixed the wood glue with the sawdust, put it on my finger and go through the fixed hole behind the bottom plate until it highlights the hole in the front;
Then remove the excess.
Once set, it can be gently rubbed down and matched with existing wood stains with wood stains.
Another way is to take advantage of what is available in my case and I happen to have a spare spindle from an old toilet rack as the spindle for the new toilet rack.
However, if I don\'t have this spindle, I can still replace the spindle with a part of one of the wooden strips to re-use the old wooden towel rails.
This will be easily achieved by plugging the recessed holes (
Originally, the towel Rod was fixed in the appropriate position)
I left them and cut off a channel in one of the places (
As shown in the area marked in black in the photo)
Saws, chisels and mallets.
With the cutting Channel pointed up, it will allow the cut towel rod to easily enter and replace the toilet roll when the old towel rod is empty, and keep the toilet roll ready to use by gravity to keep it in place.
There is no doubt that with a little imagination, other alternative reuse solutions can be found to accommodate any excess material at hand.
For example, if you have a spindle on an old toilet roll rack, but there is no towel rack to marry with, then I believe there is always a lot of other household items to replace. g.
Or you can make a bracket yourself and fix the spindle with some plywood, old floor etc.
Turn them into smart things with routers.
The possibilities are endless.
