If you are thinking of remodeling your bathroom

If you are considering renovating your bathroom, an odd jobs guy may be the perfect person for the job. Especially ideal for someone that doesn't want to go through the trouble of interviewing and hiring new contractors. Ask your friend that does the occasional small jobs projects around your home to see if they would be comfortable taking on your bathroom project.

You may find that they have extensive plumbing skills and even have their construction license. Because they are able to get more work as an odd job doer, they let the contracting work go. Since this person knows your home and your style, they could easily help remodel your bathroom. Refitting the plumbing, setting you up with new fixtures, a shower or bath and new cabinets won't be a problem for someone with basic woodcraft and plumbing skills.

Asking if they would be willing to take on your bathroom may get you thinking about the other projects that you have been putting off in your home. Once you realize that your handyman has more skills then just fixing the toilet or putting up cabinets, your horizon will be expanded. Ask them if they would be interested in taking on building that new pantry for the kitchen or creating a hutch for the dining room.

If your odd jobs person is comfortable remodeling the bathroom, they may be willing to help remodel your kitchen. This is definitely a bigger job than the bathroom, but for the right person it isn't impossible. Talk to your handyperson about whether they would feel comfortable with a larger project and if you were to find helpers if they would take it on. You may be surprised to find that this isn't the first time the odd jobs guy takes on a kitchen renovation.

One of the best ways to utilize the skills of a handyman, though, is by employing them to remodel your closets. Getting your closets organized is a great way to clean up your life and give yourself a positive outlook. Adding shelves or finding inventive ways to use closet space is a perfect job for your odd jobs person. They already have the skills and tools; just point them in the right direction.

If you think that the project you have in mind is too big for your handyman, talk to them to find out. You may be surprised that the person that you have been employing for simple things like unclogging the sink or hanging paintings may be able to take on your major renovation project.
