When choosing a kitchen worktop many people advised

First let me tell you a little bit about granite.

Granite is an igneous rock formed beneath the earth by slowly cooling pockets of magma and it is one of the hardest stones they can be used within the construction industry. Granite is also one of the most durable materials that can be used and can endure more than almost anything else before showing signs of wear and tear.

To expand on the durability, there are very few materials that are able to scratch granite, the most common example diamonds and other pieces of granite and this means that the finish of your kitchen worktops will remain unblemished for years. Unlike other materials it is also very difficult to chip or crack granite worktop, obviously it would be possible if you really set your mind to it but there aren't many people out there root cook with a hammer so you should be safe.

Granite is a porous material however it is the least porous of all stones and therefore by applying the correct sealer to it every few months you will prevent any moisture being absorbed. this does not mean that you should leave spilt liquid on the worktop for a long time but common sense should prevail here.

Because granite comes in large slabs it is often possible to create kitchen worktops without any joins which therefore further decreases a chance of any moisture getting into the stone, this is generally not possible with wooden or laminate worktops.

Finally, granite can be one of the most cost effective materials to use your kitchen worktops. it may be more expensive at the beginning however due to its durability you will not have to replace it like you would have to with other worktops. Granite worktops can last over a decade before showing any signs of wear and tear.

Hopefully you can now see why so many people are very quick to recommend granite when it comes to kitchen worktops and the great thing about this material is that it can be used to so many other things as well such as your bathroom, tiling, and flooring. it will give you a long-lasting and elegant finish that will in some cases add value to your home and should therefore be looked at as an investment rather than just a simple solution to your current needs.
