While commuting to school, college or workplace;

Most of them don't play games as a hobby; they play to keep themselves from getting excessively bored and when they want time to pass quickly. Fact is that, this recent demographic increase in gamers is not because of hard-core games. The main reason that leads to this huge leap in mobile gaming is the development of social games or what we call as casual games and the vast availability of cheap and fast Internet like the one provided in Verizon's FiOS Bundles. Interestingly, there are more number of female casual gamers than males. Casual games unlike hard-core games are less complicated, easy to play and are marketed towards the mass consumer. Even those who don't consider themselves as core gamers can play them. Casual games are becoming insanely popular. And fast. In 2011 the revenue intake by Apple and Android in the U.S. gaming industry alone was an astounding $1.9 billion while Nintendo scored over a billion. The number of casual games has exceeded 250,000 in the Android market this year.

Let's take a look at some of the casual games in the android market:

180 Ultra:

A break from the frequent and painfully repetitive versions of the match 3 games. Finally. I was once addicted to the puzzle setter games like Tetris, but now they are plain boring. 180 Ultra is like a breath of fresh air. In traditional match-3 games you would have to move around a marble and match it with two other marbles by a color. But 180 Ultra wisely utilizes the touch screen feature of smart phones where the marbles slowly move down the screen. The sides of the marbles have different colors and you can flip them back and front to make a sweet combo, clearing out a huge rack. The game also gives new funny characters and challenging levels that will keep you addicted for a long time.

Fallen Realms RPG:

Fallen Realms is an online, free-to-play role-playing game developed by Sega. It has over a million players and features the trouble-free touch and play option. The game is set in the dungeons where you have to move through different levels wading off weirdoes and accumulating artifacts. This game is something I won't be addicted to. But hey, it offers some cool networking features and was updated recently. Realms now has an awesome PvP(person vs person) battle arena, but still uses the same old turn-based combat. Nobody's complaining though. Sega is baiting players to try out this new feature by offering extra BRAVE (player's energy) points and other bonuses. With the new feature and updated HD graphics, it's worth a try.

Where's my water? :

Don't think it's for your three year old. This game is based on fluid physics and was developed by Disney starring two adorable alligators- Cranky and Swampy. Initially available only on the iPhone, this hit game eventually made its way to the Android market. It's noted for its excellent graphics and control options. The game play is to get Swampy the neat freak clean and preventing Cranky, a super tough alligator from disrupting his bath time. All you need to do is move the water from its source to Swampy's quaint bathtub using your fingers while negotiating obstacles and potential hazards. Of course you need a well thought out plan and a clever eye to succeed right away. Fun filled game, invigorating to play and follows the success of Angry Birds.

From my past experience in playing both hard-core and casual games I can say that mobile games are easily better stress busters for the rush-hour world.
