Here are some important things to consider before investing in a blender.
Countertop and Immersion Blenders
The most commonly known design of blenders is the countertop blender. These are the type of blenders you leave on your kitchen countertop rather than storing it away in a cabinet or closet. Most of them come in a large variety of colors and designs to match any kitchen theme. Because of their size, they generally come with a more powerful motor ideal for heavy duty mixing tasks.
Immersion blenders are handheld devices with a swirling blade at the end. Because of their portability, these blenders usually come with a smaller and weaker motor ideal for simpler mixing tasks such as mixing drinks, dicing vegetables, beating eggs, etc.
Capacity
One of your first consideration is the amount of food you will be preparing most of the time. Do you cook for a big family? Or are you hosting parties regularly? Blenders come in varying capacities- from 2 to 6 quarts. And as you would already know, the larger the capacity, the larger the size of the appliance will be. Do you have sufficient space on your kitchen countertop for the size of the blender you are considering?
Built
The most important part to look at is the footing. A sturdy and stable footing is important in a blender to ensure that it doesn't topple off the counter top while blending your food. Look for footings which are made from stainless steel .
The best mixing containers are those made from glass. They are heavier and sturdier but costs more than their plastic counterparts. Look out for mixing containers which are dishwasher-safe to make cleaning an easy task
Attachments
You would have come across some blenders which have multiple extra attachment for different functionalities. Ensure that the attachments are easy to install and detach. If it's too much a hassle to fix on the attachment, it might cause some inconvenience during usage. Also take note of any sensitive parts of the attachments that might malfunction or break if improperly attached.
Safety Features
Most people leave their blenders on the kitchen countertop. It'll be good if the blender comes with a cord storage space with lids to prevent the cords from getting wet. There are some processors out there with a safely lock to prevent the machine from blending without the lid on. This is a very important feature to have to prevent unwanted accidents in the kitchen.
Warranty
Always check a blender for its warranty. The last thing you need is to spend your money on a broken blender and having to pay extra to get it fixed. Most companies offer a 1 year no-hassle full replacement warranty.
