Keep in mind that the countertop can be damaged due to abuse or carelessness. Laminate surfaces may burn, scratch and stain. Never leave moisture on a countertop joint. The joints can be damaged and separate if moisture is left on them to long, even by a wet rag or sponge overtime. When a laminate countertop is properly cared for it will look beautiful for years.
Care and Cleaning Instructions
When cleaning your countertop, use a damp cloth or sponge with a mild soap or detergent. To clean difficult stains such as coffee or tea you can mix a mild household cleaner and baking soda to create a paste. With a stiff nylon bristle brush, scrub approximately 15-20 strokes on the affected area, repeating if necessary. Be careful when scrubbing to not mar (damage or scratch) the surface finish. Baking soda is a low abrasive, but excessive scrubbing or exerting too much force may damage the surface, especially if it has a gloss finish.
Drain cleaners, dyes (hair, textile or food), oven cleaners, rust removers and toilet bowl cleaners can cause permanent stains if not wiped up immediately with a mild soap, detergent or all-purpose cleaner. Always be sure to wipe up any spills immediately and rinse several times with water, because depending on the chemical a clear residue may be left, which can be reactivated with moisture from cups or drinks, resulting in permanently etched scars or stains over time.
