Being functional doesn't just mean having all the features of a modern kitchen. Make no mistake; features like refrigerators, stoves, dishwasher, ovens, sinks, countertops and cupboards should be there. It's just a matter of putting these features adjacent with each other so you can maximize your space. Also, you can maximize your energy and save time on moving from one place to another just to fetch a piece of kitchen utensil.

All modern kitchens need to have a countertop, and not just an ordinary countertop. An extra countertop is advisable for huge kitchens. There should be seats beside the countertop, as well, so that guests don't get tired standing and watching as you cook. It's always a good idea to make your kitchen an efficient workplace.
