Artificial stone countertops are a very common countertop product nowadays, so does the artificial stone countertop have radiation? Let's take a look.
Types of artificial stone
1. Composite acrylic countertops: Composite acrylic countertops are the most cost-effective among all artificial stone countertops. Its main components are acrylic, aluminum hydroxide and 65% particles added to saturated resin by about 20%, and other materials account for about 2% (depending on different colors). Its price, gloss, hardness, corrosion resistance, etc. are relatively moderate, making it the mainstream product in cabinet countertops.
2. Pure acrylic: The main components of pure acrylic countertops are methyl methacrylate and aluminum hydroxide. It has fine luster, non-toxic, non-radiation, easy to clean, corrosion-resistant and non-leakage. It is currently the most ideal cabinet countertop material.
3. Crystal stone: Compared with selelite, crystal stone has not changed much in essence, but it uses more large-particle, high-transparency materials in color toning and pigments. I have done an experiment in the countertop processing workshop---the crystal stone countertop has more pores than ordinary selenium after high temperature tempering.
4. Cloud stone: Cloud stone is a kind of artificial stone with higher cost than crystal stone, pattern imitating natural texture, and harder texture. Because of its defects in processing and texture docking, it has not been used on a large scale. It is generally used in other exterior wall packaging, pillars, and lighting packaging.
5. Seraite: The first-generation product of artificial stone, the main components are unsaturated resin, aluminum hydroxide powder, acrylic monomer, pigments and so on. In order to reduce costs, many small manufacturers use calcium powder instead of aluminum powder to make the table surface dull, brittle and easy to break, easy to corrode and leak.
Artificial stone vs. natural stone countertop
Advantages
Artificial stone: rich in color and overall shape, It has good plasticity; and can truly realize seamless splicing, can make any shape, is extremely repairable, has no pores on the surface, oil and water stains are not easy to penetrate into it, has strong anti-fouling power, and is easy to clean; it is lighter and thinner and can be reduced The load-bearing capacity of the cabinet body prolongs the service life. Compared with natural stone, artificial stone has no radiation and has no harmful effects on the human body.
Natural stone: pure natural stone, the pattern is harmonious and beautiful, the luster is soft, the texture is ever-changing, it has the feeling of returning to nature, the texture is hard, the scratch resistance is outstanding, the wear resistance is good, the cost is low, and the color is different Different, it is an economical countertop material.
Disadvantages
Artificial stone: lower hardness than natural stone, poor scratch resistance; lack of naturalness, relatively high texture Fake, low technical threshold, full of defective products, middle and low-end products also have problems such as fading, discoloration, poor aging resistance, oil stains, etc., and do not have the advantages of high-quality artificial stone
Natural stone: Natural stone is shorter in length. Long countertops need to be spliced, and the seams are obvious, which is difficult to process when encountering special shapes in the kitchen or crossing pipes. Natural stone has high density, more than rigidity, and insufficient elasticity. In the event of a heavy blow or rapid temperature change, cracks will occur and it is difficult to repair. There is also radioactivity in natural stone products, the key is to see whether it exceeds the national standard. For example, the fluorescent screens of luminous watches, televisions, and computer monitors, which are indispensable in our lives, all have a certain amount of radioactivity, but they are all trace amounts and are harmless or not harmful to humans. Radioactivity is not surprising, and there is no need to panic.
However, it can be seen that high-quality artificial stone countertops are non-radiative, and they are a kind of stone countertops with a relatively high degree of environmental protection and health. , It is worth everyone to buy.
