Kitchen artificial stone countertops is an increasingly popular countertop product. Its various advantages enable it to be used in households more frequently. So how to install artificial stone countertops is more reasonable? Let’s take a look at it together.
Precautions for the installation of artificial stone countertops
1. There must be a backing plate under the countertop. To support the table, the backing board can be made of three particleboards or density boards with a width of 100 mm and a thickness of 15 mm or more, which are fixed on the back of the table with glass glue. The star basin and the stove mouth are added with vertical backing plates. Moisture-proof sheets should be used for the full pad to prevent the pad from being affected by moisture deformation.
2. When designing the corners of the table, full consideration should be given to stress concentration, causing cracks at the corners of the table. Therefore, the processor should maintain an arc angle with a radius of 25mm or more at all corners during processing. When splicing is required, the joints should be wiped clean with alcohol or thinner to avoid too much dust at the joints, which will affect the bonding effect and cause the joints to crack.
3. When designing plane splicing, attention should be paid to the physical properties of artificial stone to avoid the consequences of joint cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction or stress concentration. When selecting the connection position, full consideration must be given to the board The effect of force. 3-5mm expansion joints should be left at the end of the countertop against the wall, and the countertop should be more than 3 meters, and the expansion joints should not be less than 5mm.
4. The table surface must be finely ground and polished. The problem to be noted when grinding is: every time the sandpaper is changed, the front The traces of the secondary sandpaper sanding are all polished, and then replaced with a higher mesh sandpaper until the gloss of the artificial stone is completely polished.
5. When designing the opening position of the furnace opening, the opening position of the furnace opening should be greater than or equal to 80mm from the edge of the countertop to prevent cracking of the countertop furnace hole position. When opening the furnace opening, use a cutting machine or When the jig saw opens the hole, the radius of the four corners is basically uniform. Because the jig saw and the cutting machine open the hole, there are serrated marks on the periphery of the cut furnace hole or there are cracks remaining, which can easily cause the furnace hole to crack.
6. When buying artificial stone countertops, you should choose a product with bright surface color, a creamy feel to the touch, smooth, delicate, and pore-free products. Such products are dense, stable in structure, resistant to oil and stains, and more durable.
7. After the countertop is installed, it is necessary to judge whether the countertop is flat during acceptance. The easiest way is to pour some water on the countertop to see if the water has a fixed flow direction. If the water poured on the countertop shows a fixed flow direction, the countertop is not flat. If the countertop is inclined, it is more likely to break due to vibration when cutting vegetables and chopping things. Therefore, you must confirm with the installer to ensure that the countertop is flat and the water will not flow around when poured on it.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone of a small detail: when installing artificial stone countertops, it is best to use thermal insulation wool on the edge of the stove and wrap it. The aluminum foil paper is used for heat insulation to prevent the stove from being too high during cooking, which may cause local heat and expansion of the countertop and cause the stove hole to crack.
