So you want to remodel your kitchen?

Kitchen remodeling 101, the best thing you can do is invest in a kitchen that is going to last. It may not be the cheapest option but it will carry more value in the long run especially if you plan to sell your house.

The smartest thing that you could ever invest in is either granite or quartz countertops in your kitchen, they add a lot more value to your house. If quartz or granite countertops just aren't in the budget then Formica is a great alternative.

If you aren't familiar with Formica, it is a plastic laminate countertop that is heat resistant and wipe-clean, which is great for the families with children or who are just a little bit clumsy, I know I am!

Whether it is an expensive granite or marble, or a more affordable Formica countertop, they are both equally fun to choose.

Quartz and granite are both really fun and hard to pick out because they naturally come in so many different colors and patterns. They have many undertones that you can accent in almost the perfect way possible.

Formica is a little bit different, the colors are little bit blander, simply because they don't possess the same depth as a natural stone, but there are a lot of patterns resembling that of granite and marble, so unless people are inspecting your counters up close, they'll never know the difference and it will be our little secret.

Another important thing to remember with quartz vs granite countertops is that a matching backsplash is almost always the route people take, and they achieve that by cutting a smaller strip to go around the perimeter of the kitchen. This is once again a more expensive way to create your backsplash and personally I have a little secret that will save you hundreds!

Tile your backsplash, that's right tile! It looks fresh, fierce, and stylish and people will be so jealous they didn't think of it first. You can get all kinds of tile anywhere, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. With tile it's so easy to compliment the colors in your granite, choose a chic pattern, a glossy single shade, a design that won't soon be forgotten, just choose whatever suits your budget.
