Solid Surface Manufacturer of Sanitary Ware, Solid Surface Countertops & Sheets for over 24 years, innovation in moulding and thermoforming
A lot of people like to cook with pots, rice cookers, electric frying pans, baking pans and other types of rice cookers that are designed for use on the countertop.
While these are very handy items for slow cooking, they are often the culprit of a large number of cracks in expensive creeds and other types of solid surface countertops.
As a solid surface repair specialist, I have fixed hundreds of worktop cracks that are directly caused by the use of these handy but potentially harmful items.
That being said, don\'t throw your cooker out of the door.
Just take some precautions and you can continue cooking.
This is my personal rule of thumb to protect the solid surface of the home from thermal damage.
If nothing hot burns me and I can\'t hold it in my hand, then I won\'t put it directly on my countertop.
If you intend to use any rice cooker on your countertop, then you will need to use the cutting board or trivet provided by the countertop manufacturer to protect the surface of the countertop from heat.
If your manufacturer does not provide you with at least one cutting board or trivet, then you will need to purchase it yourself.
In most cases, the manufacturer will provide you with this service during installation.
Many times, however, someone may have purchased a house with a solid surface countertop for a while before buying a house.
Usually in this case, the cutting board has been removed with the previous owner.
People like their cutting boards and they usually take them away when they move.
It is very important to note that trivet or cutting boards that sit flat on the countertop, and have no airflow below are as bad as not using trivet at all.
If you go and buy your own board, you should put a small bumper on the bottom of the board.
A simple gap of about 1/4 \"is enough to provide airflow between the cutting plate and the countertop.
Also, I\'m not a big fan of those thin little glass composite cutting boards, at least not for heat protection.
It is also important to note that the cloth pits placed on the countertop are not protected enough.
They can put together hot pot that will cool down soon, but even then I will double them just out of caution.
Never use the pan Holder as the only thermal protection for any plug used for heating equipment, as they do not have enough protection, which can also cause a fire.
Your countertop is expensive, durable and of high quality.
However, they are not indestructible, they can last a lifetime and become beautiful with a little care.
On the bright side, however, you make a very sensible choice by using a solid surface countertop, as they can always be fixed, unlike other types of countertops.
