When buying granite worktops it's important to

There are a few things that you should consider when making your choice and so I thought would write this article to try and help you when it comes to knowing what to ask.

Initially when making your choice it is always worth consulting with friends and family who may have had granite worktops installed previously because there is no one better to provide an honest and reliable review. There are also a number of very good websites whose sole purpose is to provide reviews on different companies and to allow the general public to provide reviews, some of these websites can be questionable and do allow companies to rate themselves however if you spend time trying to find the right ones then they can be a valuable source of information.

Once you have created a shortlist of potential companies you will need to go through each one and hold discussions with them in regards to exactly what you're looking for and the questions that you ask at this stage can be vital in highlighting companies that you would be willing to work with and companies that you wouldn't.below I have listed a few of the questions that you might want to ask when considering a granite worktop supplier:

Although this isn't always the case, quite often you will find that companies that have been established for a long time are more reputable. As I say this isn't always accurate as many very reputable companies are started every year however it is a good rule of thumb and a good question to ask.

A company that cannot provide references for work that they have previously completed is one that you should be quite wary off. Most companies are very proud of the previous work that they have completed and will regularly ask happy customers if they will provide a reference moving forward.

Personally I would be very concerned if a company refused to offer references as I would think that they were hiding something.

There are a number of different grades for granite and a higher grade the higher the quality. There is no real right or wrong when it comes to this as long as the company that you are speaking with can provide a genuine explanation for their recommendation. This also gives you the opportunity to request a higher grade if a lower one is being recommended.

Most reputable companies will provide guarantees of their work and of their products, this is something that should be asked very early on as you need to know that your back is covered in the worst scenario. Different companies will offer different guarantees and it is down to you to decide if you are happy with the guarantee being offered or not.

The supplier of your granite worktops will be completing a certain amount of work in your home and regardless of how good they are or how professional they are accidents can happen.

Making sure that they have the right insurance in place to cover anything that might be accidentally broken or anyone that might be accidentally harmed during the installation process is very important as you wouldn't want to incur any additional expenses as a result of something out of your control.

There are a lot of other questions that should also be asked and before contacting any granite worktop suppliers you should sit down and write a list of any questions that you do want answers to, hopefully this shortlist has given you a starting point and will at least cover some of the more important things that you will need to know.
